Farm Tours, Fine Food & the AGM!

This November, the Speckle Park community will gather in Melbourne for two days of connection, learning and celebration. Members and their guests are warmly invited to take part in farm tours, a special cocktail evening showcasing Speckle Park beef and the 2025 SPI Annual General Meeting.

Across the weekend, you’ll have the chance to see Speckle Park operations firsthand, enjoy a menu designed by leading chef Jake Furst featuring our breed at its finest, and hear from industry speakers before taking part in the AGM.

PROGRAM

Saturday 22 November (10am - 3pm)

Two leading Speckle Park operations open their gates.

Kick off the weekend with on-farm visits to two leading Speckle Park programs. It’s a chance to see genetics in the paddock, talk directly with breeders and get a closer look at the data behind performance.

Tours hosted by participating studs. Please contact the stud you would like to attend to make arrangements for your visit.

Travel, dinner and accommodation are arranged by members.

STOP ONE
Whiteline Speckle Park

Gates open 10 am to 3 pm. One of Australia’s five-star performance herds. Explore a highly focused breeding program built around fertility, structure, carcase and consistency.

Highlights:

  • See elite Speckle Park genetics run under commercial conditions

  • View progeny with proven commercial performance backed by data not hype

  • Pick your favourite animals on display and go in the draw for a great prize.

HTR Speckle Park & Meade Agri

Two Vytelle Net Feed Intake (NFI) presentations at: 10 am and 12pm. Learn how feed efficiency testing is reshaping breeding decision.

Highlights:

  • Hear how NFI data is being used to identify more efficient cattle

  • View the onsite Wagyu NFI trial and hear about previous trial results

  • Ask questions about integrating NFI and performance data into your own herd strategy

Member Welcome Dinner

Saturday 22 November (6pm - 8.30pm)

Join fellow members and guests for a relaxed cocktail-style dinner featuring premium Speckle Park beef canapés, wine, beer and good company as we come together to celebrate the breed and community.

A taste of Speckle Park - Benbullen Speckle Park Meats together with Speckle Park Certified have kindly supplied the beef for the evening’s canapés.

Enjoy premium Speckle Park beef canapés paired with wine, beer or soft drinks while connecting with fellow breeders. The evening will include a welcome from SPI Chairman, Vaughn Johnston, followed by Jake Furst, COO & Chef of the KickOn Group, who will introduce the menu and share his insights into preparing and presenting Speckle Park beef at its finest.

10am Workshop One - Science Shaping Meat Quality
Meat Tenderness, Carcase Quality, Smarter Genetics and Stronger Returns

This session dives into the genetic drivers behind eating quality and the commercial advantages they unlock for Speckle Park producers.

Lachy Woodcock will lead the session with insights on how genetic decisions made today shape long term carcase tenderness and breeder profitability.

Hannah Powe from Neogen will then outline cutting edge genetic testing and its growing impact on Speckle Park and the broader beef industry. She will share the latest research in meat tenderness and genomics, including how these tools drive improvements in eating quality, consumer satisfaction and market value.

11.25am Workshop Two - Speckle Park Signature Beef Challenge Launch and Commercial Register

Hear the exciting details behind the upcoming Speckle Park Signature Beef Challenge, presented by Vaughn Johnston. This premium eating-quality competition is designed to showcase the standout flavour, tenderness and performance of Speckle Park beef.
Learn how the challenge works, why it matters and what it means for breeders, brand programs and the future positioning of Speckle Park in the premium beef market.

Tim Weller will provide an introduction and member update on the SPI Commercial Register, outlining its purpose, how it will operate and the value it brings to both commercial producers and registered breeders.

Join the SPI Board for the 2025 SPI Annual General Meeting, an important opportunity for members to stay informed and contribute to the direction of the Association.

The AGM will include the Chairman’s Address, updates from each subcommittee, presentation of key achievements for the year and open member discussions. It’s a chance to hear how SPI is progressing against its strategic priorities, raise questions and be part of shaping the future of the Speckle Park breed.

Accommodation is available at the Mercure North Melbourne, located on the corner of Flemington Road and Harker Street – the same venue hosting Sunday’s Industry Updates and AGM.
